I hate it when I miss out on a great pack. I was in London when this came out, so I couldn't even view it. So here's the comment you deserve. These presets caught my eye.

something fierce: God, why can't all 3-d scopes be like this one. I like that you mentioned how it's a duo homage. I can see the influence, strangely enough. Great touch with the Texers, that's what really makes this one.

string theory:love the concept, but c'mon man, those Convos are dragging the FPS so badly. I don't even think you need 'em.

amethyst: this looks like stuff I would like to do, but I don't know how. Looks great, but again, those backgrounds really don't do much, & they take so much FPS, think about other options.

poco animato: the background is good enough to be a preset by itself. wow.

Great great pack, as you're probably already aware. Of course, I've got some problems with the FPS count a couple presets, but you could already guess that. I think you've got a tendency to always have some sort of background, which is a cool idea, but sometime it doesn't really add much. On top of that, back grounds should be simple, that's their purpose, to be in the background (right?). I did enjoy reading the comments, as I love name dropping, & you do a lot of it. (How come I didn't see mine? You're totally not making my comments, take that). But otherwise, man, I wish I had some of your code. The scopes in here are great. They're complicated, but rational & fun to watch. I can see you put a lot a lot of work into this. Very inspiring, as you've got an artists eye. Congradulations.

veeeeeery nice pack. great scopes - great style - great presets :)

btw some of your code looks like it could've needed this APE :) [link]
it's a syntax enhancer for avs. be sure to read the .txt that comes with it :)

This is a fantastic pack. I could whine about how poor some of the presets are and spew about how great others are... but this is a damned good pack, and like all such pack there are a few lamers and few jawdroppers.

I remember your earlier work, the style seems relatively unchanged, but the tech is there to back it up now. Some of the presets are really attractive, and what lacks in music response and technical perfection is made up for with sheer style.

Good job. Keep it up...

better late then never :)
this packs simply kicks ass, stuff like riviera and malevolent shattering made my jaw drop,
your scope work is still awesome, but you improved a lot with the backgrounds since i2 (the warping DM's with riviera, the great soft flowy purple bg in satelite nation compared to les temps and ensemble) , those make the presets turn to real eyecandies.
the only filler-ish preset is nebulous imo, it is way too bright
poco animato looks great without the last FXlist, but with it, it gets black too easily.
the remixes are great even if synth-c (one again) beats everyone with his magnificent work :)

+fav for shure

good luck with the pack, you deserve all the glory!

OK big review

Intro:
Not bad, not great, a bit dark perhaps
cubic spectrum:
Nice effect, but the contrast of black on light blue is a bit stark imo. The framerate is a bit unecessarily low too.
crater:
okay, a bit of ugly-edge on the DM's tho
take it and leaf:
I think this preset is really well done, the leaves look great. You need to increase the linesize on the wavy lines in the background though because they break up on all but the lowest resolutions.
something fierce:
Nice scope formation but the colours are really clashy, red and green and purple and yellow all mashed together.
string theory:
Pretty good, maybe a little too dark
cellulite:
Quite stylish, but pretty average
flow of music:
nice idea, fairly well executed, the bars could behave a little more like they are 'flowing' though, rather than just rotating and stretching
malevolent shattering:
good, looks better the more you watch it
nebulous ii:
Hmm, I'm not entirely sure what effect is trying to be conveyed, but its a little odd and not really that exciting.
amythest:
cool idea, would be nice if the shapes weren't clipped by the top of the screen.
poco animato:
a bit more oldskool, nice if not amazing
satellite nation:
Very nice, stylish, perhaps a little dark again. I think it would have been fine without the FPS sucking DM producing that barely visible ring
chromis:
A metablob preset that drags my 3 gig PC under 15fps? No no no my friend, not acceptable. Nice shiny blobs, dull background.
demo:
A bit too average, movement is a bit jittery too
moonshine:
Mmmm, stylish, I like it a lot, it flicks around a bit though
flowers:
I really enjoy this one, quite why I cant put my finger on. The fogging on the shapes is a bit odd, it seems like you can see them a meter from the camera but they're invisible at one and a half meters, too sudden.
rivierra:
oh yea, some classic amphirion. Cant complain about this one, its a certain style, done just right.
project global ii:
The lime green colour scheme hurts my eyes. The preset feels about two or three years old for some reason, doesnt do it for me.

General comments:

A pretty solid pack; as one would expect, some good some not so good. rivierra and the leafy one are my favorites, where the style and execution gel up nicely.

Frame rates are borderline acceptable for some of the presets, and thats being a little generous. You need to learn to optimise your effects more. Also accounting for different window sizes, "take it and leaf" for example must have been made in a tiny window for you to not have seen the lines breaking up, you need to consider how presets look at different resolutions and adjust them accordingly.

You seem to have a fairly linear progression in your technical skills, I'd be interested to see you tackle more technical stuff (if thats the direction you are going to take)

P.S. congrats on dd

Congratulations on the dd.

Supremely well conceived pack here. The effect your dm/ssc combos make in this pack is quite rare in AVS and seem to have a truely eldritch visual impact, 'satellite nation' being a great example.

There are some visuals that seem out of sync with the rest of the pack, like 'flow of music' and 'cellulite' but their equally as good, but some how seem less fantastical.

Overall you seem to have improved exponentially since your last pack and these visuals rank along some of my favourate packs.

Keep up the good work.

Peace
